My Role: Design Manager
Project Goal: Launch a new and innovative fashion website in the same vein as Guilt, but at a more moderate price-point. In addition, create an app that reflects the same innovative thinking as the website.
Project Description
The other fashion-related Amazon site where I hired and managed the design team was MyHabit.com, with Art Director Tony Balquin at the helm. MyHabit debuted a “head to heel” offering, including four to six flash sales daily and up to 40 events a week. The logistics for shooting for MyHabit were complicated since events sold out quickly and the studio was in Kentucky, despite the fact that the design team was in Seattle.
The site and accompanying mobile app, sported a unique feature—when you clicked on the image of an item in full-body, the model would spin, showing you all angles of the product, the fit, and how the fabric moved. This is similar to how a person would be able to perceive different aspects of a garment if they were to see it on the runway.
"I worked with Skot for almost 4 of the six years that I spent at Amazon. We worked pretty closely together. He was my favorite designer - very creative & willing to listen. I'd go to him with a concept & what I needed the product to do & he'd do the rest. He has a great sense for what users need. He is gregarious and easygoing to work with. He's also very flexible & willing to experiment. I miss working with him!"
