Project: This is the exterior and interior remodeling design work for our home that is currently under construction.
Project Description
I took on the remodeling design of our new home in Austin after a year of going back and forth with unsuccessful architect’s designs. I completely redesigned the interior space as well as the look of the exterior, while keeping the lines of the existing house. I was inspired by Moroccan architecture and designs as well as more industrial elements and merged the two into an eclectic, balanced and comfortable space that is masculine on some levels, feminine on others, with an infusion of the exotic. I wanted our home to feel like an escape from our work lives and to provide a retreat for visiting friends and family.
The filigree screen designs were inspired by Moroccan tile patterns and these plasma-cut steel panels will be installed on the exterior of the house and used as windows in the walled pool courtyard. I also completed the final landscape design for the property, which will include a greenhouse, daylily hybridizing nursery, and regional show garden displaying over 1,000 different and unique daylily cultivars.
