HYBRIDS
These works, "Hybrids" as I call them, are created from multiple images that have been digitally layered, manipulated, and pieced together in some cases, to make pieces that remove themselves from the original image to deliver a more emotional or theatrical response. In each case there is a base image, a portrait or object, that serves as a thread holding the works together in each set, but each is a departure from the other.
In some cases, the human representations are made from multiple photos, body parts from different individuals, pieced together to form a new muse as a jumping off point. For example, Marco, (below) unfortunately does not exist, he is a "Frankenstein", if you will, of five other humans from various ethnic backgrounds, and one element is female.
